Lodge Labs - Bioacoustics
Advanced Acoustic Monitoring
Lodge Labs is a bespoke, purpose built facility and highly skilled team that allows Lodge Environmental to deliver cutting-edge passive acoustic monitoring. Our services at Lodge Labs can support biodiversity assessment, ecological monitoring, threatened species detection, and long-term environmental management across Australia.
Using autonomous recording devices, advanced audio analysis, and ecologist-led interpretation, we capture the soundscape of ecosystems to detect species that are often difficult or costly to survey for using traditional field methods alone.
We have detected cryptic species across large Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement Sites, increasing credit yields in highly efficient timelines, maximising the value of a site and ensuring fully informed conservation management tailored to the rare species detected.
Lodge Labs was developed to help landholders, developers, government agencies, and conservation organisations access modern ecological monitoring tools through our company that produce better environmental outcomes and more informed conservation decision making.
We provide project specific assistance and are able to be engaged either as a subset of a project, contracted in, or we can build bioacoustics into a broader project to add value. Contact Lodge Environmental to discuss how Lodge Labs can support your projects with our novel technology.

What is
Bioacoustics
Bioacoustics is the science of recording and analysing the sounds produced by wildlife. For us, it allows for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of fauna across large spatial and temporal scales – i.e. large properties, for a long time!
Bioacoustics is a recognised survey technique in accordance with the NSW biodiversity legislation and guidelines.

Nature Repair and Accounting for Nature
Baseline and ongoing species census to track species diversity changes under restored landscapes
Research and Innovation
Pushing the envelope of what and how we can survey
Our Technology
Lodge Labs utilises a suite of modern ecological technologies, including:
- Passive acoustic monitoring units (including Audiomoths, Song Meters)
- Ultrasonic bat detectors
- AI-assisted species recognition (Avian, Kaleidoscope)
- Long-duration deployments
- Spatial and temporal acoustic analysis
- GIS-integrated monitoring outputs
- Cloud-based data management and review workflows
Importantly, all acoustic data is reviewed and interpreted by experienced ecologists. Automation efficiencies is combined and strengthened with expert ecological input.
